Time is running out to apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program through the Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials.
If you live in Adams, Brown, Pike, or Schuyler counties in Illinois you could be eligible for energy assistance.
The LIHEAP program is income based.
It provides those who are eligible for a one-time payout to their energy provider to help pay their costs.
To apply, make an appointment with the Two Rivers Regional Council by calling (217) 224-8171 during normal business hours.
Walk in are welcome, but only from 9 am to 11 am, and then from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The deadline to apply is tomorrow, May 31st at 4:30 pm.
Applications will re-open in October.
When you come in to apply, expect to bring the social security card of everyone who lives in your home, proof of income for the past month, and your most recent energy bills.
No matter what type of energy you use, whether it be propane, electricity or natural gas, you can apply.
