Motorcyclist, 53, killed after rear-ending truck on I-35, Schertz police say

SAN ANTONIO – A 53-year-old motorcyclist is dead after he crashed his vehicle into a truck on northbound Interstate 35 early Thursday morning, according to the Schertz Police Department.

The crash happened around 2 a.m.

According to police, the motorcyclist was believed to be speeding when he crashed his motorcycle into the back of an unidentified truck. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say officers found the motorcycle on its left side in the left-lane of traffic and the man was deceased on the left shoulder. The man has not been identified.

First responders shut the highway down for several hours as they worked at the scene. Traffic was directed off the highway to the access road at Schertz Parkway. The highway has since reopened.

Schertz police say they do not anticipate any charges being filed against the driver of the truck.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
