Hundreds of people were in attendance, the event was open to everyone and those who attended enjoyed food, drinks, live music and even performances from drag queens.
Those who attended spoke of the need for more equality for those in the LGBTQ+ community as well as the need to celebrate how far they have come. Here’s what one young woman, Sharon Watkins-Fox, had to say regarding the importance of pride celebrations.
“It means a lot it’s really important for us to you know feel represented and be comfortable with who we are and kind of show that to the community. We fought a lot just personally over the years and you know in our relationship just for the right to marry, to be recognized as equal citizens and everything that means, and to be here for all her queer siblings.”
