Bright lights on Glenville's Maple Ave bridge a glaring problem for nearby residents
GLENVILLE, N.Y. (WRGB) — Lights aimed at alerting drivers to the low Maple Ave bridge in Glenville are creating headaches for some residents nearby. Two very bright lights have been put up by Schenectady County to illuminate the bridge at night so drivers are able to see it clearly. The lights were mounted after a truck carrying compressed gas crashed into the low railroad bridge, igniting an explosion, back in December.
Rotterdam Nurse Charged In Death Of Skylar Pettit
Schenectady County residents Amber Geier and her boyfriend Rickey Loika were arrested Thursday, April 18, in the death of Geier’s 24-year-old daughter Skylar Pettit. The young woman, who had Down syndrome and diabetes, was found dead inside her Rotterdam residence on July 31, 2023 following a welfare check requested by her school. Investigators determined that she had been dead for months.

A Schenectady County grand jury has indicted Skylar Pettit's mother, Amber Geier, 54, on nine charges including manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and concealment of a human corpse. Geier’s boyfriend, Ricky Loika, 52, was also indicted on six related charges including animal cruelty for the mistreatment of four mastiff dogs.
