Portion of Highway 54 in Waupaca County reopen after 'structure fire'
(WLUK) -- A portion of Highway 54 in Waupaca County has been temporarily closed due to a reported structure fire. According to a Facebook post from the Waupaca County Sheriff's Office made around 2:40 p.m. Friday, Highway 54 "between County Highway O and Highway 22-54-110 (Spielberg Corners)" is the affected area.

Judge Vicki Clussman dismissed charges of felony child neglect against an Iola couple whose 2-year-old daughter died in the slats of a homemade bed. Committee postpones permit decision
A decision to grant a conditional use permit for a proposed nonmetallic mine near Iola has been postponed again. The Waupaca County Planning and Zoning Committee held a public hearing Dec. 5 on the proposal by Faulks Brothers Construction Inc. of Waupaca for the mine, which would be held on Iola Car Show grounds in the town of Scandinavia.

The fire was extinguished, and students and staff were evacuated. No students or staff were injured in the incident and returned to school as scheduled.
