SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Police say an 11-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a car while riding a bike Monday.

According to the Savannah Police Department, officers responded to DeLesseps Avenue at Guatemala Street around 6 p.m. and found the boy suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Investigators say the child was riding a motorized bicycle when he rode through the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by an oncoming Tesla Model 3.

DeLesseps Avenue was temporarily closed in both directions from Waters Ave to Salvador St. for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
