Big temperature swing ahead...when highs return to the 80s
Spring began on Monday with temperatures that felt more like January across southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry. Milder weather will surge across the Southeast by mid to late week pushing high temperatures into the 70s and 80s.Before the warm-up takes hold, another inland frost or freeze is possible to start Tuesday. Here is a look at the latest frost and freeze alerts. The best chance of seeing temperatures near 32 is around Metter, Sylvania, and Hampton.Savannah should start Tuesday morning in the upper 30s. If you live near the coast temperatures will start in the 40s.By Wednesday, highs will jump to the 70s. Highs should reach the 80s for inland locations starting Thursday and likely continuing through Saturday. If you live near the coast expect highs in the 70s.Outside of a spotty shower or some sprinkles on Wednesday, the next chance for scattered showers is near a cold front on Saturday.
