Mass. State Lottery winner: Cape Cod shop sells $1 million scratch ticket

A Massachusetts State Lottery player purchased a winning $1 million scratch ticket and claimed their prize on Monday, March 20, from a convenience store in the Bay State on Cape Cod.

The winning $1 million ticket was from the “$2,000,000 50X Cashword” scratch ticket game. The ticket was sold from an Express Mart in Buzzards Bay, and was one of 35 total tickets worth $600 or more claimed from the game on Monday.

There was also a winning $100,000 scratch ticket claimed on Monday in Massachusetts. The winning ticket was from the “Millions” scratch ticket game, and was purchased in Saugus from Marina’s Mart. It was one of 19 winning tickets worth $600 or more claimed from the game on Monday.

Overall, there were 1,006 lottery tickets worth at least $600 won or claimed in Massachusetts on Monday, including 33 in Springfield and 35 in Worcester.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of all the winning tickets each day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

The two largest lottery prizes won in the state of Massachusetts so far in 2023 were $33 million and $31 million Mega Millions jackpot prizes.

The tickets were each sold a week apart, with the $33 million ticket for the Tuesday, Jan. 24 drawing purchased from a Stop & Shop in Belchertown. The winner came forward to claim their prize on March 1 through the Skylark Group Trust.

The $31 million Mega Millions jackpot ticket was won on Jan. 31. The winning ticket was bought in Woburn from a Gibbs gas station, and the winner claimed their prize on March 8 through S & L Trust.
