Shooting investigation underway

SARASOTA — Authorities are looking into a shooting overnight Monday.

Sarasota Police Department stated the shooting took place about 8 p.m. Monday in the 2700 block of Gillespie Avenue in Sarasota.

"An adult victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident," Sarasota Police stated in a news release. "This incident appears isolated, and there's no immediate danger to the public."

It stated that the investigation is "ongoing."

"As always, we appreciate any tips from the public that may help identify the suspect," it stated.
