A viral video posted on social media shows a Sandhill crane in a standoff with an alligator in Florida. The video, posted by Laura Akin, shows the gator slipping out of the Sarasota-are pond and toward the crane. The crane quickly spreads its wings to appear bigger and begins calling out.After a few moments, the alligator turns tail and bolts back into the water. Warmer than average temperatures in February have caused alligator mating season to begin early in Florida. Experts say to stay further back from the edge of the water as gators may be territorial and defensive.
