According to a recent beer and wine license application, Marla Bakery is opening a brick-and-mortar shop at 208 Davis Street in Santa Rosa — taking over a space formerly home to Miracle Plum, near eateries such as 4th Street Cellars, Jackson’s Bar & Oven, and Lococo’s Cucina Rustica.

“It’s always daunting to open a brick-and-mortar space, but we’ve wanted one since we moved here,” Co-owner Amy Brown tells Sonoma Mag — “The place has good bones, good light and it feels like home.”

Brown adds that Miracle Plum’s owners were one of the reasons that she and Co-owner Joe Wolf believed they were even capable of opening a bakery in Sonoma, sharing, “They have always been an inspiration, and we’ve always loved the space.”

The pair plan to continue operating at Marla Bakery’s production kitchen at 399 Business Park Court in Windsor, where they’ve been since 2020 — and where patrons will still have the opportunity to purchase baked goods from the spot’s “roll-up” window in the mornings on Thursdays and Saturdays.

In addition to the cookies, tarts, and croissants that Bay Area residents have come to expect, Marla’s upcoming cafe in Santa Rosa will offer lunch and dinner. While the menu hasn’t yet been confirmed, if it’s modeled after the business’s existing special dish and seasonal meal program, diners can anticipate fried chicken, garlic & erba cotta stuffed quail, and matzo ball soup.

An opening date has not yet been announced, so, for additional updates, follow Marla Bakery on Facebook and Instagram
