WALTON COUNTY, Fla. -- A North Carolina man was arrested for allegedly stealing a car from the parking lot of the Hungry Howie's in Santa Rosa Beach.
45-year-old Jeremy Trantham, of North Carolina, is charged with grand theft auto for the incident that took place on Sunday.
According to the Walton County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the vehicle that was stolen had initially went into the Hungry Howie's to take a quick break, leaving his vehicle running in the lot.
Moments later, the victim reported the vehicle stolen.
Deputies located the vehicle after a BOLO was put out, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
The vehicle was spotted at the intersection of Scenic Gulf and U.S. Highway 98 West. A traffic stop was conducted at Poinciana Boulevard and U.S. Highway 98, where Trantham was arrested.
Deputies in a release state they were able to review the video at the back of the store showing Trantham spot the vehicle still running before getting inside and fleeing the scene.
According to a release, the stolen vehicle was recovered in less than an hour.
Trantham was booked into Walton County Jail on Sunday. He is held on $10,000 bond.
