MDT hosting informational meeting on July 23 on planned Gore Hill improvements
The Montana Department of Transportation is hosting an informational session on July 23 from 4-6 p.m. on the planned improvements to the Gore Hill interchange. MDT is finalizing design plans for the interchange with the goal of reducing traffic delays, improving traffic flow and enhancing safety features due to the increasing traffic volumes in the area.

River’s Edge Trail, North River Road to close July 13-134 for Black Eagle Dam work
North River Road on the north shore near Black Eagle Dam and the River’s Edge Trail on the north and south shores near the dam will be closed July 13-14. The closures are needed so crews can safely move a crane back to the barge launch to prepare for the next stage of construction for the Black Eagle Dam spillway project.

Evans Riceville Road near Belt down to one lane after slide
BELT, Mont. —Evans Riceville Road, south of Belt off Highway 89, is restricted to one lane due to damage caused by heavy rainfall today. The slide happened about four miles west of Highway 89, where part of the northbound lane gave way and moved down the mountainside, the county said.

The River’s Edge Trail and North River Road on the north shore near Black Eagle Dam will be closed May 27 as NorthWestern Energy continues work on the spillway. The Black Eagle Dam spillway project includes installing new support structures and spillway components to strengthen the dam and improve safety.

Wolf Creek Dam Road Closure 5/27
The date for the road closure at Wolf Creek Dam has changed. It will not be closed on June 2, 2026. Instead, it will be closed on May 27, 2026. As part of the rehabilitation of the spillway gates at Wolf Creek Dam, both lanes of US 127 across the Dam will be closed on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Message boards will be placed at predetermined sites to provide additional information.
