Ski Santa Fe has announced they are extending their season to April 16. Management is happy about it, and the people are definitely happy about it.
"It's super exciting," said Tommy Long, with Ski Santa Fe. "Us being a ski area, more winter is always exciting."
Although spring is around the corner, Long says this is a sight to see.
"Little bit of a slow start with the snow, but once it started falling, it's just kept coming, so it's really exciting," he said.
The area has received more than 4 feet of snow this month. Since conditions have been good up to this point, he says they aren't ready for the season to end quite yet.
"It's always important for us to offer what we think is a really good product to our local customers and to anybody that wants to come and enjoy it," Long said.
Locals are also happy about the recent news.
"Yeah, I think it's quite amazing. I hope it brings and actually pumps them up for the final bit of weeks in the extension of the season," said Isaac Glickman. He's a frequent skier in the area.
"Ski in your t-shirts, hang out at Totemoff's, listen to music, and have fun with your friends," said Adella Romero.
"We've extended before, and so this is not unheard of, but it is very exciting," Long said.
Although some people are waiting to break out the swim trunks and sunglasses, Long says living in the present at Ski Santa Fe couldn't be better.
"Seeing all the smiling faces, it makes it all worth it," Long said.
