Canyon Theatre Guild Set To Present “The Play That Goes Wrong”

The British comedy “The Play That Goes Wrong” is scheduled to debut at the Canyon Theatre Guild next week.

Attendees of the May 25 opening performance will be treated to a complimentary wine and champagne reception.

As described on the Guild’s website, “The amazing hit comedy from across the pond. This is British comedy at its best! The troupe’s ambitious 1920s whodunit has everything you never want in a show: falling props, collapsing scenery, an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything, including their lines. How will this eager ensemble battle against all of the disastrous odds?”

After a 2012 London premiere that was well-received by critics, “ The Play That Goes Wrong ” won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy in 2015. The show continued to run for two years on Broadway and is still going strong in the UK, thanks to its devoted audience.

“The show is so funny that we have been rehearsing for eight weeks and the cast is still

making me laugh every night,” said director Eduardo Arteaga. “You will not want to miss this cast,” he continued, “I think we will have people coming back for a second helping.”
