State LULAC convention draws national politicos
Saturday was a day to celebrate Latin heritage, culture and power as the New Mexico League of United Latin American Citizens brought its state convention to Silver City. State LULAC Director Fred Baca, who lives in Silver City, said most of the organization’s events are in the Albuquerque area, but he wanted to bring the state convention to Silver City this year.
FBI joins investigation into stolen paintings
TAOS, N.M. — The FBI is taking on the investigation of two stolen paintings that happened nearly 40 years ago in Taos. In 2017, David Van Auker, owner of an antique shop in Silver City, was sent to a house in Cliff, New Mexico, to check out the estate of Jerry and Rita Alter. As Van Auker and his two partners went around the house, they noticed something in one of the rooms.
