Altamonte Springs-based Picerne Real Estate Group is pursuing a 350-apartment development on a 17.5-acre site that includes the former department store, as well as adjacent parking lots, on the south side of the mall.

Earlier this month, Sanford’s City Council approved a re-plat of the former Macy’s site, the purpose of which — according to a report by city staff — was to facilitate the sale and eventual redevelopment of the site as a multifamily residential project.
