UPDATE: Students shot at with pellet gun at Granger High School in ‘altercation’
WEST VALLEY CITY — Authorities now say three students were shot with an Orbeez pellet gun on Granger High School’s campus on Tuesday. According to Ben Horsley with Granite School District, there was “some sort of altercation,” and he said three students were shot as a result. Later, Horsley clarified it was with an Orbeez gun, not a real gun.

4 fires near downtown Salt Lake City prompt an arson investigation
SALT LAKE CITY — Fire investigators are looking for someone suspected of starting several fires in the downtown area early Tuesday. The four incidents happened near downtown Salt Lake City, along 100 South, between 500 East and 700 East. One of the things that set fire was Winnie Quilter's dad's car, a 1982 BMW 320i.
Some Salt Lake high school facilities closed to the public due to irresponsible dog owners
SALT LAKE CITY — Publicly funded facilities are not open to the public, and that's the case for the tennis courts and fields at a handful of Salt Lake City high schools. Peter Bublik said the courts in the Granite School District, specifically Skyline and Olympus high schools, used to be open on evenings and weekends but are now locked up. Bublik said he had played tennis on those courts several times for nearly a decade.
Barnes & Noble plans to open first Wasatch Back location in Kimball Junction
America’s largest bookstore is helping to turn a page in Kimball Junction as it prepares to open a new location in a former big box storefront vacated last March. Barnes & Noble is expected to bring a new anchor store to the Redstone Center later this summer — its first location in the Wasatch Back. The bookstore will move into the space once occupied by Bed, Bath & Beyond, the third-largest commercial building under the Redstone arch.
Big changes proposed for Utah high school sports involving local, international students
MIDVALE — Some massive changes could be coming to high school sports in Utah. Two proposals — one aimed at students attending schools on F1 visas and the other targeting all athletic transfers — were approved Wednesday by the executive committee of the Utah High School Activities Association.
