Troutdale volunteers cleanup Columbia Park for Earth Day
As Oregonians across the state ventured out on Earth Day weekend to clean up and support green spaces, hundreds of volunteers worked at Troutdale’s most popular park. On Saturday, April 20, the city hosted an event at Columbia Park, 1900 S.W. Cherry Park Rd., to pull invasive weeds, plant native species and pick up litter. Following the outing, those volunteers who had worked up an appetite got pizza at the picnic shelter they had just worked to beautify. ...
Gresham Police reunite stolen dog with owners
Local law enforcement rescued two animals in recent weeks, showing “protect and serve” extends to our four-legged friends. Earlier this month Gresham Police recovered a dog that had been stolen from a person who was sitting at a MAX Blue Line Station. The suspect, later identified as Michael B. As fentanyl use increases around Central Library, Portland agencies scramble for solutions
More lighting was scheduled to be installed outside Multnomah County’s Central Library on Wednesday in response to reports of increased drug use around the downtown branch. Readers respond: Vega Pederson’s incomprehensible inaction
The latest example of unconscionable inaction by Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson is her failure to initiate plans for a sobering center until the money from the state has arrived, (“Multnomah County commissioner concerned about board chair’s lack of urgency in moving forward with plans for sobering center,” April 19.) I’m sure once she knows exactly how much money is allocated to a sobering center, she will know exactly how much should be given to expensive consultants to study the problem for a year or two and then make some impractical recommendations.

Gresham’s mayor isn’t ready to rest on his laurels after a “blockbuster year.” Instead the tenor of his latest annual city update was on overcoming some future hurdles through the power of collaboration. “Each milestone reached is only possible because of every individual in this room and beyond,” said Gresham Mayor Travis Stovall. “We can build a stronger, more resilient Gresham — we just have to keep looking to the...

It was a welcome reaction as staff wanted to create a more focused event, highlighted by beer tasting, music and the chance to enjoy it all in a relaxed atmosphere. ...
