NICA sees a year of milestones
Looking back, North Idaho Classical Academy has had some significant milestones this past year. Laying the foundation: Since its inception in 2018, North Idaho Classical Academy has evolved from an idea into an actual school that will be opening in August 2025 with over 550 students intending to enroll. A big thank you to the founding group: Lena Cordle, Sage Dixon, Christa Eby, Kaite Gorman, Sheraya Hauck, Lynsee Leonard, Liesl Woomert, and many others who have been supportive along the way.
Farmers Market opening day is April 27
Spring has finally sprung and, along with April showers and lots more sunshine, the highly anticipated opening of the Bonners Ferry Farmers Market is set for April 27. The farmers market is one of the community favorite events of the season as local vendors gather to display and sell their wares. From woodwork and homemade soap to local honey and baked goods, this year's vendors have a wide variety of items to offer. In addition, there are flowers, veggies and fruits also available for sale at the market.

9B Strong, a local organization promoting civic involvement, has begun a project to educate voters as to their rights when voting in the May 21 Idaho primary election. You can register to vote any time including the day of the election. You need to be 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, have a picture ID and have lived in Idaho for 30 days prior. When you register you can name a political party with which you chose to affiliate or remain unaffiliated.

Lewiston softball combines for 41 runs in doubleheader sweep against Sandpoint
Lewiston softball coach Jesse Roehl challenged his team to get more hits in Game 2 of a doubleheader against Sandpoint on Saturday at Airport Park after the Bengals won the opener 7-2 courtesy of strong pitching from junior Jenna Barney. The message was received.
Athlete of the Week: Rae and Sceppe, Track and Field
Helene Rae is named field athlete of the week and Devin Sceppe is named track athlete of the week for Bonners Ferry track and field. Rae, a junior, took second in the shot put and discus at the Priest River Invite with throws of 37--10 and 106--0.75. In shot put her personal record is 39-11, ranking her second in 3A state and in the discus her PR is 108-9, which she earned at the 3A State Championship Track meet.
COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Davis wins third CCC decathlon championship
Sandpoint alumni TJ Davis won seven out of 10 events, setting three new conference records in the process, en route to his third men’s decathlon title at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships held Apr. 18-19 at Eastern Oregon University. Davis’ score of 6,996 points currently ranks him as the No.1 NAIA decathlete in the nation.
