Per Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, San Jose Sharks defenseman Mario Ferraro has had trade talks about him picked up.

Ferraro's name was bandied about around the trade deadline. As the No. 1 defenseman on the Sharks, Ferraro's age, 25, gives teams the feeling of high potential.

"Ferraro, 25, is under contract for two more seasons and comes with a $3.25 million salary cap hit. He is not looking to be traded and enjoys San Jose, but teams are calling, and my understanding is Grier is open to trading him," Pagnotta writes. "However, the price remains very high and it will take a significant return for Grier to part with Ferraro."

Teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nashville Predators, Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, and Chicago Blackhawks were reportedly interested in acquiring Ferraro before the deadline.

Like before, Ferraro's reported trade rumors are very high. Pagnotta imagines Ferraro's return could be a first-round pick and a top prospect. He also imagines that it may be another "high asset."

Ferrao's numbers haven't been as good as they could be if he were on a playoff-caliber team. He has been in the NHL for five seasons and played 330 career games, but he has never played a single postseason game.
