Ranger Suarez, Alec Bohm are on FIRE, Phillies cruise past Padres yet again with 5-1 victory in San Diego

Ranger Suarez entered last night’s game out west against the San Diego Padres riding a 25-inning scoreless streak. He extended to 32.2 innings before coughing up a hit in the bottom of the 8th inning at Petco Park.

Suarez dazzled through eight innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run. He walked zero and struck out eight Padres batters.

Ranger Suarez this season: 5-0, 41 IP, 1.32 ERA, 0.63 WHIP, 5 BB, 40 K

Phillies Starting Rotation – 28 games: 2.14 ERA, 168 IP, 48 BB, 180 K

Suarez moved into second place all-time on the Phillies’ consecutive scoreless innings list with another shutout performance.

My favorite stat of all – Ranger Suarez has a 2.48 ERA on the road since the 2021 season – good for the BEST in Major League Baseball among the 61 pitchers with as many innings.

In relief of Suarez, Jeff Hoffman struck out the side in the 9th to give the Phillies their 10th win in the last 12 games played.

Heat Check Alec Bohm:

Bohmer extended his hitting streak to 11 games last night with a two-run home run in the first inning last night. He also singled in the fifth that scored Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner. On the night, Bohm went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI and is now batting .354 on the season with a 1.030 OPS.

During his 11-game hitting streak, Bohm has 11 extra-base hits and 18 RBI.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, the Phillies are 8-2 over their last 10 games while the Atlanta Braves have posted the same record and continue to hold onto first place in the National League East Standings. After last night’s 5-1 victory over the Padres, the Phillies trail the Braves by 1.5 games while winning 17 games in the month of April – the third best mark in Franchise history.
