The end of Bally Sports San Diego’s days as the Padres’ broadcast partner is not the end of the Padres on cable TV.

Far from it.

While landmark developments signaled the start of a new era of Major League Baseball as a direct-to-consumer streamer, MLB and the Padres have secured deals with various local cable/satellite TV providers to keep San Diego’s only major sports team available via traditional programming avenues.

The new channel lineups are as follows:

  • AT&T U-verse: Channel 781 (High definition on 1781)
  • Cox: Yurview Channel 4
  • DirecTV: Channel 694-3 (DirecTV Stream on 694)
  • Spectrum: Channel 305 (Spectrum Hawaii on 230).

Padres games will also be available on fuboTV, in addition to MLB.TV, which is available for $19.99 per month or $74.99 for the rest of the season after a seven-day free trial.

The latter service at MLB.TV is only available in in the Padres’ home television territory and is a separate service than the MLB.TV out-of-market package.

With local blackouts lifted, the reach of Padres games is expanding from 1.13 million homes in the Padres’ territory to 3.264 million, an increase of 189 percent.

Primary TV broadcasters Don Orsillo, Mark Grant and Bob Scanlan will continue to serve in their existing roles, as will 97.3 The Fan radio team Jesse Agler and Tony Gwynn Jr.

The Padres will also produce a 15-minute pregame show for home games and postgame shows for both home and road contests. Because the previous show was contracted out to Bally Sports San Diego, MLB is discussing new arrangements with the on-air talent associated with previous pre- and postgame shows.

Stay tuned as more details will roll out in the coming days.
