2 men arrested, one on the run after shooting at plainclothes detectives, SAPD says

No officers injured, police vehicle struck by gunfire in incident Monday night on East Side

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police arrested two men and are searching for a third suspect in connection with a shooting involving plainclothes detectives on the East Side, police officials said.

According to a preliminary police report, two plainclothes detectives with the Texas Anti-Gang Taskforce came across a vehicle they believed was suspicious just before 7 p.m. Monday in the area near Dawson and Gevers.

The officers started to follow the vehicle after witnessing the three suspects in the vehicle shoot toward a building, according to SAPD.

The suspects then stopped their vehicle and shot toward the officers, SAPD said. None of the officers were injured, but the unmarked unit was hit by gunfire.

San Antonio police said the plainclothes officers did not fire back.

East Patrol officers then set up a perimeter and arrested Alton Green, 26, and Deandre Ross, 28, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The third suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Two rifles were recovered from the scene, the report said.

It’s unclear if anyone was in the building where the suspects fired their weapons initially.
