SAN ANTONIO - A man, who was meeting up with a woman he met online, was shot several times after being ambushed on the West Side.

The shooting happened just before 7 a.m. in the parking lot off North General McMullen Drive near Old Highway 90 West.

Police said the man showed up and met up with the girl, but he was then ambushed by three men who jumped out of a silver Jeep. The victim was shot in the groin and the back and left in the parking lot while the suspects took off in not only their Jeep, but his gold SUV.

The victim went to a nearby Planet Fitness to ask for help. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Police are using their helicopter to search for the vehicles.

Investigators will look at surveillance video to get more information on the suspects.
