SAN ANTONIO – A major multi-car accident on the Northwest side of town leads to two people in critical condition and 2 drivers booked for driving while intoxicated, police say.
The incident happened at the 6300 block of NW Loop 410 at around 2:20 a.m.
Police say that a 36-year-old man was driving southbound on NW Loop on the number 4 lane in a 2017 black Jaguar XE. A 29-year-old woman was sitting in the passenger side of the Jaguar. A black 2015 Chevrolet Camaro strikes the rear of the Jaguar causing it to push the Jaguar into a collapsible crash attenuator that divided the main lanes from the Ingram Road exit ramp. The Camaro was redirected to the right and came to rest on the right shoulder of the main lanes. The Jaguar was then redirected to the left and finally came to a rest between the number 2 and number 3 lanes, leaving the Jaguar facing oncoming traffic. That’s when a red 2017 Toyota Rav4 driving in the third lane collided with the driver’s side passenger door of the Jaguar. The Jaguar was then ripped in half leading the front half to be redirected into the center concrete median. The back half of the Jaguar was carried south by the Toyota until finally coming to a rest in the number 1 lane.
The Toyota rotated until finally coming to a rest.
The 29-year-old woman was ejected from the Jaguar and was unresponsive. The 36-year-old man was hanging out of the front half of the Jaguar. They were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Camaro was evaluated and was found not to be intoxicated.
Police say the driver of the Jaguar and the driver of the Toyota were evaluated and determined to be intoxicated and were booked for Driving While Intoxicated.
This is an ongoing and active investigation.
