Flyweights collide!
Streaking contender Maycee Barber will look to make it four wins in a row when she takes on Texas’ own Andrea Lee at UFC San Antonio.
Round 1:
The two fighters gauge distance. Lee throws a kick and Barber catches it. Lee throws a leg kick before going for a body kick. Lee takes Barber down to the ground. Lee gets side control and holds Barber down. Barber traps the right arm of Lee with one of her legs. Lee gets her arm free. Barber tries to reverse but ends up just getting back to her feet and the two trade strikes.
Lee lands punches to the body and to the head with Barber returning fire with a kick to the body. Barber works the leg kicks and even attempts some kicks upstairs which don’t find their target.
Round 2:
Barber continues to utilize her leg kicks effectively. Lee fires off a 1-2 which lands. Barber goes for some headlocks before taking down Lee, but it would be only for a moment as Lee gets back up to her feet. Barber lands three punches to the head of Lee. Lee goes two leg kicks before going up top with an amazing headkick Barber stuns Lee on the feet with punches and goes on the offense. Barber rushes in but Lee takes her down to the ground.
Lee establishes top control and tries for an arm triangle submission. Barber pushes her off and Lee lands some kicks on the grounded Barber. Barber attacks with upkicks as Lee closes in and goes to the ground with Barber once again.
Round 3:
Barber lands a cross. Barber pours on a lot of pressure as she delivers her striking combinations. Lee takes her down but isn’t able to keep Barber there for long. They get into the clinch and eventually break up, returning to the striking department. Lee fires a body kick and Barber uses it as an entry for a takedown (it works). Lee worker her way back up and trips Barber. Barber gets to her feet.
Barber clinches up with Lee, looking to land some blows. Lee steps across and trips Barber again, but this time Lee gets top control on the ground. Lee holds top position until the end of the final round.
Official result: Maycee Barber defeats Andrea Lee by split decision (28-29, 29-28, 30-27)
