An unknown driver drove off after hitting a building in downtown San Antonio.
According to The San Antonio Police Department, the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. near the 2600 block of South Flores.
We learned from the police on the scene that the patrolling officers in the area noticed the major damage after passing by.
Police determined that the incident was a hit-and-run. Officers believe the driver lost control somehow and crashed before officials arrived.
They were able to find a bumper left inside the building with a license plate. Police say that they do have a car and driver identified and may face felony charges including failing to stop and give information.
After the San Antonio Fire Department assessed the damage, a demolition crew will consider what to do next.
Authorities say that the building was vacant and under renovation for awhile.
The driver has not yet been arrested and the investigation continues.
