SAN ANTONIO – A man who was on the run for more than a year after allegedly killing his brother in Miami was arrested this week in San Antonio, according to police.

Damian Collazo, 25, was taken into custody on Tuesday on a second-degree murder charge, booking records with the Bexar County Jail show. Miami-Dade Police Department Det. Chris Thomas told KSAT that he will be extradited back to Florida.

According to Miami-Dade police, Collazo gunned down his sibling, 28-year-old Telly Colon, on March 13, 2022, inside a home.

Family members told police that the brothers were having a dispute when they heard gunshots.

The relatives went to check on the commotion, and that’s when they found Colon on the floor and Collazo fleeing.

Colon was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities searched the home and found several firearms that belonged to Collazo. A warrant was then issued for his arrest, police said.

Police profiled him during a “Help Us Catch A Murderer” video segment on social media.

In the video, Det. Humberto Garcia said Collazo was considered armed and dangerous.

“No parent should have to bury their own child, especially when the killer is his own brother,” Garcia said.

Miami-Dade police did not state why Collazo was in San Antonio when he was arrested. The Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers was offering a reward of up to $5,000 leading to the arrest of Collazo.
