San Antonio's new Kimpton hotel clarifies details on grand opening specials

The Kimpton Santo luxury hotel grabbed headlines early last week when it unveiled a slew of steep discounts to celebrate its San Antonio debut.

It now appears some of those discounts were a little too good to be true — at least according to an updated press release the boutique hotel's media liaison sent out Wednesday.

For example, an offer of half-off dinners on Sundays through Thursdays through September at Dean’s Steak & Seafood inside the hotel only applies to guests' food bill, not their drinks, according to the new release.

Oops.

This week's release also clarified that an offer of $1 bottles of champagne on Saturdays and Sundays through September for guests who order a “buy one entree, get the other on the house” special only applies to select bottles . The policy of one bottle per two guests remains in effect.

"In a sense, there was information that we were unaware of at the time that the press release went out, hence why it was not included," Viviana Garcia, a PR specialist for Giant Noise, the San Antonio firm handling publicity for the new hotel, told the Current . "I think the hotel team just wanted to make sure that everything was out there is as clear as possible."

Despite the changes, Garcia said she's unaware of any guests who were upset because they were unable to get the specials described in the original release, which went out Thursday, Sept. 22.

The updates from Kimpton come seven days after the chain opened its San Antonio location at 431 S. Alamo St. The property occupies what was formerly a 19th-century English-German school.
