SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — On April 16, San Angelo City Council members approved a resolution authorizing the use of city property at Rio Concho Park, which is across from the McNease Convention Center along the Concho River.

Members of a local committee are working with the San Angelo area foundation to fund a World War II memorial and interpretive historical area.

“Behind said airmen will be the plaques and names and it’s regardless of branch and it’s regardless of how of you got to San Angelo or how you, the veteran got to Tom Green, or even the Concho Valley,” said Mason Brooks, vice president of development for the San Angelo Area Foundation. “But it’s this idea of if you called or made San Angelo your home prior to, during or after World War II we want your name and we want that family name on the memorial.”
