WATCH: BULL RIDING – This Is It.

SAN ANGELO, TX — As excited as the fans looked on opening night, the rough stock was the exact opposite. Angry and mean was the nicest way to describe the broncos and bulls as they threw Cowboys around all evening.

In the Bareback Riding, Clayton Biglow led the way on Stevie Knicks when he posted an 87 in the opening minutes of the Rodeo. Six other riders managed to post qualifying rides, but none matched Biglow’s energy during his run.

The Saddle Bronc riders fared worse as multiple riders found themselves in the air more often than not. In fact, Jacob Benham took flight when “Black Magic” tossed into a flip to land on his head. Luckily, no injury occurred, but this fall was just the first of many.

Finally, in the Bull Riding, the bulls showed utter contempt for all but one of the riders. During the first ride, Texas native Dalton Walling found himself on the wrong side of “Little Bill” when the bull decided to hold a serious grudge against his rider. Little Bill showed how big he actually was when he stepped on Walling before the Rodeo Clowns could chase him off. Walling limped off the floor, but that incident set the tone for several attempts to come.

In one of the final rides of the evening, Levi Schonebaum from Burke, South Dakota, hopped on the back of the bull, “This is it,” and finally won the battle of wills against the bulls. Schonebaum heroically held on for the full eight seconds and posted a 77 for the only qualifying ride of the night.
