Locals Say This Kentucky Buffet Is Worth Every Bite And Every Mile
A Korean buffet where the kimchi is made in-house? That alone deserves a road trip. Most buffets lean on fried rice and hope. This one stacks bulgogi, spicy pork, japchae, and kimbap side by side. A separate spread of banchan and soups waits nearby. I can’t imagine a better way...

Retro Louisville: Burger Queen restaurants rebrand as Druther's
Its name may look like a combination of two fast food restaurants, but the former Louisville-based chain known as Burger Queen had a unique style of its own. Burger Queen was founded in Florida in the 1950s before partners James Gannon and George and John Clark bought the company and opened the first Louisville-area location in 1963. The business grew to 175 restaurants by 1980. Burger Queen sold not only hamburgers, but also fried chicken, fish, salad and breakfast items. An agreement with Dairy Queen prevented Burger Queen from selling ice cream. Burger Queen changed its name to Druther's in the early 1980s, but not because of any pressures from Burger King or Dairy Queen. At the time, company leaders told The Courier Journal that burger sales were accounting for less than 25% of the chain's diverse menu, making the Burger Queen name a marketing liability. Under the Druther's name, the restaurant chain lasted about a decade. Dozens of restaurants were converted to Dairy Queen franchises starting in 1990. There were 34 Druther's locations operating in 1991, according to one Courier Journal report, but as of October 2026, only one Druther's location in Campbellsville, at 101 N. Columbia Ave., remains

This Kentucky Joint Serves the State's Best Wings, and the Recipe Is Actually Trademarked
Trademarked bar food is not a thing you run into often. Mark’s Famous Honeywings™ carry that little symbol after the name, which means somebody at this Louisville barbecue institution thought the recipe was worth protecting back when the first plates started going out in 1988. Esquire apparently agreed. When the magazine went state by state […]
