It's hard to believe college football is already onto Week 9. The season has yet to disappoint, with ESPN's "College GameDay" highlighting the biggest matchups each Saturday.

This week, Lee Corso and crew chose one of the most critical games of the season -- one that could define a conference.

Last week, "College GameDay" visited the Buckeyes as they hosted Penn State in an undefeated Big Ten game. Ohio State pulled out a 20-12 victory to remain unbeaten and take control of the eastern standings.

For the third time this season, ESPN is headed out west for a pivotal Pac-12 showdown. Will it live up to the hype?

Here's everything you need to know, including location and guest picker, for ESPN's "College GameDay" in Week 9.

Where is 'College GameDay' location for Week 9?

  • Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Time: 9 a.m. ET
  • Matchup: No. 8 Oregon vs. No. 13 Utah

"College GameDay" is setting up shop in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the Utes and Oregon battle to keep their conference championship hopes alive.

Both teams are 6-1, sitting in second-place in the Pac-12 alongside two other teams.

Just two weeks ago, "College GameDay" was on site as the Ducks lost to Washington by a mere three points, coming up short 36-33 after a missed field goal. They got back on track by routing Washington State 38-24.

Utah has had two games and a bye week to recover from its 21-7 loss to Oregon State. It stunned USC on the road last week, taking down the Trojans 34-32.

Oregon vs. Utah has serious championship implications, as the loser will likely be out of the race to Las Vegas. Both programs have plenty of experience in that game, as they faced each other for a Pac-12 title in both 2019 and 2021.

While the Red Rocks have the upper hand, having hoisted the last two titles, the Ducks own the latest victory over Utah. Last season, on Nov. 19, they won 20-17 in Autzen Stadium.

Will the Utes survive with home-field advantage?

Who is the guest picker on 'College GameDay' for Week 9?

The Week 9 guest picker for "College GameDay" is former NFL receiver Steve Smith Sr. Before he became an All-Pro wideout with a 16-year pro career, Smith starred at Utah for two years, so there's little doubt who his pick will be in the Utah-Oregon game.
