Northbound I-215 closed in Salt Lake City after multi-vehicle crash

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — All lanes of northbound I-215 in Salt Lake City were shut down following a multi-vehicle crash.

According to Sgt. Cameron Roden with Utah Highway Patrol, the crash happened after a stalled vehicle was allegedly struck by a pickup truck, causing a chain reaction involving another vehicle.

Emergency crews responded to the scene on I-215 near 500 South around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Roden said one person was transported by helicopter in serious condition.

All lanes of the highway were closed at California Avenue, according to Roden. Crews were working to redirect traffic onto I-80.

It was estimated that the road would be closed for about 30 to 90 minutes while crews investigated and cleared the scene.
