PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 22-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash along I-205 after striking the back of a Honda traveling in the same direction.

Mark S. Svirzhevskiy was headed south on his 2015 Yamaha when he hit the back of the Honda at a high rate of speed and was thrown off his motorcycle, the Washington State Patrol said in a release.

Svirzhevskiy died at the scene, officials said. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Honda CR-S had 5 people inside: A woman driver and a man, each 34, and 3 kids, ages 12, 10 and 6. All were wearing seatbelts and none were injured, authorities said.

Authorities said it’s not known at this time whether drugs or alcohol were involved, but said the cause of the crash, reported shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, was the speed of the motorcycle.

The crash closed all lanes on southbound I-205 in the Salmon Creek area during the investigation.
