State champs! Parkside defeats Patuxent to bring home Class 2A Baseball title

The MPSSAA Class 2A Baseball State Championship trophy is on its way to Salisbury, as the Parkside Rams defeated Patuxent 3-1 on Saturday to win the state title.

The Rams, who racked up a lot of hardware this year as Bayside Conference and Regional Champions, put a fitting bow on their season Saturday afternoon at the Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Md., separating themselves from the rest of the pack and finishing the year as the best baseball team in Class 2A.

Parkside took an early lead over the No. 1-seeded Patuxent Panthers, as Casey Parsons hit an RBI single in the top of the third inning. Another RBI single by Tyler Janeski made it a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning for the Rams.

Patuxent would finally strike when their turn came in the fourth inning, scoring a run to get on the board and put some pressure back on Parkside. But Storm Hartman would answer for the Rams in the sixth with a sacrifice bunt to bring home a run and give Parkside some insurance.

Parkside pitcher Aidan Brinsfield, who has been one of the Rams' aces all year, put together another great performance on the mound in the state title game to help propel the Rams to victory. Brinsfield would pitch a complete game, shutting down Patuxent batters en route to the championship victory.
