No hitter, grand slam and more in Delmarva Now Player of the Week poll

Every week this sports season, fans across Delmarva will have the chance to vote for the Delmarva Now Player of the Week.

Nominees are selected based on their performance over the previous seven days: May 15-21.

Anyone can submit a candidate for consideration by emailing abranch@delmarvanow.com or dailytimessports@delmarvanow.com. You must email the athlete's name, school, sport and stats from that week.

Votes will only be counted from the poll below. Do not email your vote.

Voting will open Monday and close Wednesday at 3 p.m. A breakdown of each athlete's week is available underneath. The winner will be announced on the Delmarva Now Facebook page, as well as @MyDelmarvaNow on Twitter.

Here are the nominees for this week:

Madison McGinnis (Stephen Decatur Softball)

  • Pitched a complete game no-hitter in the regional semifinal, and hit a walk-off single in the regional final while also pitching a complete game in nine innings in wins over Arundel and Crofton.

John Smith (Parkside Baseball)

  • Pitched a complete game, only allowing one run during their regional final victory over Kent Island.

Waylon Hobgood (Stephen Decatur Baseball)

  • Hit a go-ahead grand-slam in their state quarterfinal victory over Marriotts Ridge last week.

Ryleigh Smith (Stephen Decatur Softball)

  • Went 7-11 at the plate with 5 singles, a double and a go-ahead three run home run in their victory over Manchester Valley in the state quarterfinals.

Lukas Loring (Stephen Decatur Baseball)

  • Over the course of last week's games, batted .714, going 5-7 with 4 RBIs in their regional final and state quarterfinal wins over Chesapeake and Marriotts Ridge. Loring also pitched four scoreless innings against Chesapeake.

Cross Ferrara (Salisbury University Men's Lacrosse)

  • Scored four goals and had three assists in their win over Christopher Newport to help advance the Sea Gulls to the National Championship game.

Lindsey Windsor (Salisbury University Softball)

  • Pitched a complete game, only allowing one run in their regional championship victory over Williams.
