Carmel post office lobby 'red tagged' after Tesla crashes into front
CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. — Carmel police said that a 74-year-old woman crashed her Tesla into the front of the United States Postal Service building on Wednesday. The crash was reported around 12:17 p.m. and a police sergeant said that the "investigation revealed the female was parked in a handicap stall in the off-street Post Office parking lot, directly across from the front doors on 5th Avenue."

The trough has kept temperatures below normal and the marine layer deep. The moist onshore flow will continue to bring bouts of drizzle to the coast and coastal mountains. Thanks to a wind shift, west-northwest winds, clouds will now favor the southern and eastern portions of the Monterey Bay, near coastal cites, and perhaps even the northern part of the Salinas Valley, along with the chance of drizzle. While inland mountains could see an isolated shower or two come Thursday afternoon. A weak cold front will bring the Central Coast the chance of heavier drizzle and a few more light isolated showers late Thursday into early Friday. Meanwhile, northwest winds will become gusty Thursday afternoon, with stronger gusts expected Friday.

Salinas City Council approves short term appointment of District 3 seat
SALINAS, Calif. — In a 4-3 vote on Tuesday night, the Salinas City Council approved a short term interim appointment for the soon-to-be vacant District 3 seat. A candidate will then be chosen by voters for the remainder of the term at the November general election. Those interested in being considered for the District 3 seat can pick up an application at the City Clerk's office. The deadline to apply is May 10.
