Nancy Goff, Gunnison Valley Elementary School
“Mrs Goff is an amazing teacher. She works hard for and believes in all her students. Not only that but she goes above and beyond for students she’s never met. I have 7 year old twins. My daughter is in Mrs. Goff’s class. My son is severely autistic and goes to ABA therapy/school in a different town/district. Mrs. Goff puts together special treats for different holidays/occasions. For the 100th day of school she made little cards with smarties on them. Those are my son’s favorite. My daughter asked if she could take one home for her brother. Not only did she allow her to do that, she now makes an extra treat every time to send home with my daughter. It was recently their birthday and she made a birthday hat and bag for him. Being the parent of a child with a disability is very hard and scary. You worry so much that they will be left out or forgotten. Mrs. Goff gives me hope that others in this world will give him a place and treat him how he deserves.”
U.S. 50 bridge closure may continue for several months
A major road connecting Gunnison and Montrose was closed indefinitely over safety concerns after cracks were found in a bridge over Blue Mesa Reservoir on April 18. CDOT officials said Tuesday that the repairs to the bridge could take months to complete. Local detours are opening up, easing the pressure on communities on both sides of the closure.
High school boys soccer: Floodgates open for Ogden in second half in dominant 3A championship win over Manti
Throughout the scoreless first half of the 3A state championship game on Saturday, Ogden discovered firsthand why Manti was such a great defensive team all season, as it was organized and very difficult to break down. At the same time, Ogden had the better of the chances and possession in the first half, and coach Todd Scott told his players a goal would eventually come if they remained patient with their possession and buildup. The first goal indeed came just three minutes into the second half, and then they just kept coming. Ogden scored four goals during a 27-minute stretch to start the second half as it marched to a 4-1 win over previously-unbeaten Manti at America First Field to claim its first state championship since 2005. “The boys knew to respect that record, especially the 14 shutouts. We had to adjust at halftime, and realized we needed to play our game and the boys were resilient and executed and were patient in that second half. After that first goal, we had that momentum,” said Scott.

Fairview’s Bridging History Project wants to keep the story of Sanpete County alive
Inside the front entrance of the Fairview Museum of History and Art there’s a cast of a full Columbian mammoth skeleton, which was excavated in the mountains nearby in 1988. Local fossils are impressive and make great centerpieces. But it’s ancient history. It won’t tell you much about the people who live in Sanpete County.
Baseball Recap: Duchesne falls despite strong effort from Parker Crum
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Duchesne can now relate to. They lost 16-5 to the South Sevier Rams on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for Duchesne in their matchups with South Sevier: they've now lost six in a row. Parker Crum was...
