Carroll tennis sweeps Pulaski, falls at Glenvar

Carroll County’s boys’ tennis team is 5-3 overall after sweeping Pulaski County on April 24 and dropping a 7-2 decision Thursday at Glenvar.

Although Carroll lost to the Highlanders, top-seeded Jabin Talley continued his assault on the school record books, notching his 59th varsity win. Louis Marshall was also victorious at No. 6 singles by a count of 8-2.

The Cavaliers swept a doubleheader April 24 at Pulaski County, winning by scores of 5-4 and 5-1.

Talley dropped a pair of matches at No. 1, while No. 2 Ethan Richardson swept his Pulaski opponent 8-2 and 8-1. No. 3 Paul Marshall split his matches, losing 8-4 before taking the rematch 8-1.

Phoenix Baker came through for Carroll at No. 4 singles, taking his matches by scores of 8-2 and 8-4. Louis Marshall also swept at No. 6 singles with wins of 8-0 and 7-1. Talley and Richardson teamed to win the only doubles match of the day 8-1.

Carroll County’s girls’ tennis team is now 2-3 after dropping a tough 5-4 decision to Glenvar on Thursday.

Erika McKenzie put in extra work for Carroll to win a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles 8-8 (7-4). Alexis Boatman also secured a victory for the Cavaliers, defeating her Highlander opponent 8-4 at No. 3 singles.

Khloe Akers picked up another win for Carroll at No. 4 by a score of 8-4. Boatman and Akers joined forces at No. 2 doubles to prevail 8-1 over Glenvar.
