    Farms, stands to go for you-pick and prepicked berries around Salem

    The sun is shining and produce is finally coming to the Willamette Valley. From great greens to the brief but magical berry season, you can find farms now offering you-pick and prepicked fruits.

    These farms around Salem are now offering you-pick strawberries and other berries once their season comes. Here are the farms and details to know before your visit.

    You-pick strawberries near Salem

    Rick Johnson Farm: Strawberry picking will be slimmer this year due to a crop failure. The farm is open for picking, with strawberries priced at $1.85 per pound. Follow the Facebook page for details on other fruits that will become available later in the season. Hours: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. 3310 Perkins St. NE.

    Fordyce Farm: The peak of strawberry season is coming to an end, but Fordyce Farm is offering weekly updates on you-pick status until the season ends. Picking hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Prepicked strawberry varieties are available in the store, costing between $36 - $40 per crate depending on the varietal.     Green Bridge Gardens: Strawberries are available to pick at the you-pick fields, priced at $2 per pound, and prepicked is also available. For updates, check out the Facebook page. Hours: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., daily. 3730 Jefferson Scio Drive SE, Jefferson

    Olson Farms: Strawberries are forecasted to be available until the end of June and are $1.90 per pound. Updates for you-pick availability are posted on the Facebook page. Hours: 9 a.m - 5:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday. 6925 Joseph St. SE

    Farm stands with strawberries near Salem

    Nanneman Farms: The farm stand is offering four container sizes of prepicked strawberries. A pint is $4, large basket for $8, half a crate for $16 and a whole crate for $31. Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., weekdays; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., weekends. 5682 Silverton Road NE.

    Minto Island Growers: Strawberries are in limited quantity this year at Minto Island Growers' farm stand. When they are available, a pint is $5, two for $9, a half flat for $26 and a flat for $45. The farm may open up for you-pick but has not announced a date. Check the Facebook page for updates.     Coming soon: blueberries

    Thank You Berry Much Farms: The farm's you-pick season is not ready yet, but it is fast approaching. The farm posted on Facebook they hope to be open by the end of the month. For more updates, check out the website, thankyouberrymuchfarms.com, and Facebook page. 5975 Culver Drive SE

    Windmill Acres: Before blueberry season is here, the farm stand is selling frozen blueberries, which were picked in the summer months last year. A 5-pound bag of frozen blueberries is $10. The farm stand also offers fresh eggs, jams and handmade goods.
