Police arrested two women in Salem on Monday who are accused of trying to steal $5,000 in merchandise from a beauty shop at Willamette Town Center.
Reports came in at about 12:15 p.m. Monday for theft at the Ulta Beauty Store on Lancaster Drive Northeast.
Employees told police a woman went into the store with a shopping bag and filled it with about $5,000 in merchandise before running to a waiting car and fleeing with another woman.
Witnesses helped patrol officers find the vehicle in the parking lot of a Target across from the mall.

After getting a warrant, officers searched the car and said they found the stolen merchandise, as well as “documentation of organized theft, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun.”
Amber Dawn Alvarado, 37, and Taylor Paige Hunt, 29, were both booked into the Marion County Jail on first-degree theft charges.
Alvarado also faces an additional charge of felon in possession of a firearm.
