North Salem graduate Eimy Martinez won the 3,000-meter event Saturday at the Oregon Preview track and field meet.

The Oregon State runner turned in a time of 9:48.65 to win the event at Hayward Field in Eugene. Her time was the sixth-best in school history.

“It was a good race. My first outdoor race in uniform,” Martinez said. “I didn’t run the time I was hoping for, but it was still a great way to start the season. I’m looking forward for the rest of the season.”

The Oregon Preview kicked off the outdoor track and field season for the Beavers.

The next meet on Oregon State’s schedule is the Willamette Invitational in Salem on March 25.

Martinez is a redshirt freshman distance runner this spring for Oregon State.
