A Salado, Texas man was finally indicted this week in Bell County on a felony charge stemming from being arrested after a car chase in February of this year. The alleged car chase incident began within the city limits of Troy when the Troy Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle that had been clocked at over 100 miles per hour on Interstate 35.

The suspect was later identified after being arrested as Bradley Scott Anderson. The police chase began in Troy, and traveled for several miles into the city limits of Temple. During the continued pursuit, the suspect's automobile reached speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour before exiting Interstate 35 onto westbound West Adams.

Are car chases big news in Central Texas?

It feels like there are multiple car chases in Los Angeles alone every day. Simple Google, "LA Car Chase," and you will get a nearly endless list of videos. By now, there is probably a dedicated cable channel just to cover all the car chases.

However, when I think of car chases, the first thing that comes to mind is the opening scene to The Goonies.

What happened after the car exited onto West Adams?

From West Adams, the suspect traveled past Lakewood Elementary School, and turned south away from Morgan's Point Road onto FM 2271 towards Belton Lake Dam. After traveling FM 2271 for a short distance, the driver turned back east onto Texoma Drive, and got stuck in a residential yard after the street ended in a cul-de-sac after a few blocks.

Once it became obvious the the vehicle was stuck in the home's yard, the suspect did attempt to flee on foot from pursuing officers. He was quickly apprehended according to this article with KMIL, and was held until released on bond in May. Troy, Temple, Bell County, Belton, and Morgan's Point officers all participated in the car chase.
