Ozark Jubilee Live will bring music, comedy to Springfield

The History Museum on the Square will bring music, comedy and Ozarks cultural traditions to downtown Springfield with "Ozark Jubilee Live" at the Historic Fox Theatre on Nov. 20. The event is presented by CoxHealth as part of its 120th anniversary celebration and will raise money for the museum, according to a community announcement. Organizers said the program draws inspiration from the original "Ozark Jubilee" television show while highlighting contemporary performers and artists from across the Ozarks. Hosted by Jeff Houghton, the show will feature the Guinevere Goodwin Band as the house band. Comedy segments will be provided by The Mystery Hour between musical performances from Ashtyn Barbaree, Sam Fagan, Stevie Newman and The Lace Wings. Abbey Waterworth is scheduled to present a Baldknobber Crankie performance, while Ozarks Folkways will open the evening with square dancing. Missouri State University facilities win 7 architecture awards

Three Missouri State University facilities on the Springfield and West Plains campuses have earned seven architecture design awards for projects focused on learning, research and student support. Roy Blunt Hall and the Neurodiversity and Autism Center each received three awards, while the Construction Education Success Center addition to Kemper Hall received one, according to a community announcement. The awards came from the American Institute of Architects' Central States, Kansas and Springfield chapters. The university said that the recognition reflects its focus on designing facilities around the people and programs they serve. “Good design starts with understanding what our students, faculty and staff need from a space,” Mark Wheeler, university architect and director of planning, design and construction, said in the announcement. “These projects are very different, but each demonstrates how thoughtful planning and design can support the university’s mission and create an environment where people can do their best work.” Roy Blunt Hall The Roy Blunt Hall addition on the Springfield campus received an AIA Kansas Honor Award, AIA Springfield Honor Award and AIA Central States Honorable Mention. The $80 million addition is part of a larger transformation of the home of Missouri State’s College of Natural and Applied Sciences.
