Quakertown athletic director Kalazs stepping down after 15 years
After 15 years as the school's athletic director, and a lifetime of being a part of Quakertown, Sylvia Kalazs will be retiring from the position at the end of the school year. A 1975 Quakertown graduate, where she was a three-sport standout in field hockey, basketball and softball, Kalazs returned to her alma mater in 1985 to teach physical education and also coached the field hockey team until 2000. Ten years later, she took over as athletic director.
Child on bike struck in West Lampeter Township: police
A young girl riding her bike was hit by a car in the middle of an intersection in West Lampeter Township on Thursday, West Lampeter Township police said. First responders found the girl in the roadway at the intersection of Wiker Avenue and Francis Avenue with a severe head injury around 6:40 p.m., police said. She was not wearing a helmet, and was transported to the hospital.
