After outscoring their opponents 21-1 in the first two games of the season, the St. Peter softball team fell for the first time Friday in a 4-0 home loss to the Belle Plaine Tigers.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 2-1 (1-0 BSB) on the young season.

The offense for St. Peter was limited to just three hits in the game, with Nora Whipps getting onto base twice with Cali Cross adding the third hit of the game.

Freshman Devyn Welp started the game for the Saints, allowing just five hits and two runs, only one of them earned, in four innings of action. Kali Erickson pitched three innings of relief, allowing two runs on three hits in three innings.

After Tuesday’s game against Fairmont was rained out, St. Peter is scheduled to return to action Thursday, April 18, when the team will host the Mankato West Scarlets. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
