The St. Peter Youth Wrestling Club has put together an incredible season, and recently qualified a record number of athletes for the upcoming NYWA State Wrestling Tournament. The Saints are sending two dual teams, a K-6th and a 6th-8th team, as well as 14 individuals to state this year. The state tournament is held at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, April 4-7.
The K-6th team took fifth out of 17 in their region, going 4-1 on the day, to qualify. They will wrestle April 6 and 7. Members include: Mavrik Mercado (45), Ryder Sather 50), Lennox Sather (50), Brady Graham (55), Ryder Lehman (60), Drew Janni (60), RJ Timmerman (65), Christian Miller (70), Jaxon Anderberg (75), Carter Miller (75), Elias Nielsen (80), Maddox Mercado (80), Bryce Garberich (84), Dominick Jackson (88), Dylan Jackson (93), Levi Robb (102), Sam Weber (115), Dominick Yost (115), Liam Jensen (130), Kale Draeger (130), Nik Rykhus (HWT).
The Middle School Team (6th-8th) also qualified for the state tournament, being the youngest team in the tournament by a long shot! They will wrestle April 4 and 5. Members include: RJ Timmerman (85), Dylan Jackson (95), Logan Ely (105), Harlin Sinclair (115), Dominick Yost (115), Sam Weber (125), Liam Jensen (125), Dalton Voss (135), Kale Draeger (135), Eli Yost (150), Zach Burger (HWT), Nik Rykhus (HWT).
Individually, the young Saints qualified 14 wrestlers, who will wrestle April 4-7 depending on their age group. In order to qualify, wrestlers must place in the top four of their regional bracket, which could consist of 16 wrestlers or more. Below is a list of qualifiers:
