A St. Petersburg woman was arrested and charged with DUI on Tuesday morning after FHP troopers had to forcibly stop her from driving the wrong way on a highway. Cynthia Elizabeth Serrano Roncal, 27, was spotted driving north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 275 at about 12:41 a.m., according to arrest affidavits.
Pedestrian injured in early morning hit-and-run in St. Pete
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a car in St. Pete early Tuesday morning, according to police. According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, they received a call just before 3 a.m. about a man down in the intersection of 17th Avenue South and Prescott Street South.
Largo teen charged in laser incident
LARGO - A local teen was arrested April 19 after a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew repeatedly was targeted by a laser light beam, authorities said. The helicopter was airborne in the area of Seventh Street NW and 11th Avenue in Largo around 12:30 a.m. when the incident took place. Flight deputies maintained visual contact with the suspect and directed patrol deputies on the ground to his location.
St. Pete crash victim dies
ST. PETERSBURG — An 87-year-old woman involved in an April 4 traffic accident has died. About 9:52 a.m. that day, Ann Lee Nell Baker was driving a Ford Escape southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N. approaching 24th Avenue North. The accident happened after the Ford attempted a left turn onto 24th Avenue and entered the path of a Toyota Camry traveling northbound on MLK Jr. Street, police said.
